Since becoming part of the Influence Network team, I've been intentional to ask myself every day:
Who am I called to influence? Am I using the gifts God has given me to be influential in the lives of others? How can I utilize the Gospel to be an influence today?
These little ones are who I've been called to influence. God has given me the important responsibility of raising them up to be, not only civilized human beings, but:
people who love and personally know Jesus,
people who know how to hear God's voice as they pursue their calling,
people who seek Godly wisdom and truth,
people who have a pure and grace-filled heart,
people who are authentic and utilize the creative gifts God has given them,
people who have a desire to sacrifice their needs in order to love, serve, and bless others.
But, it all starts with their father and I. We have the responsibility of expressing and stressing the importance of these life-giving, self-sacrificing qualities and desires in our own lives. We have been called to lead by example and make sure these little ones see that we love and personally know Jesus, that we know how to hear God's voice, that we have a desire to bless others, and so on and so on.
As a mom, it's easy to fail at this on a daily basis. As a wife, it's also super easy to fail at this on a daily basis. But, that doesn't make my responsibility any less important or impossible to accomplish. By serving a God who gives grace and pours unconditional love over me, the Gospel is what fuels me up on a daily basis to pursue my calling and raise these little ones.

I needed this today. Being a mom is HARD but it is so important to instill values in our kids without getting caught up in the distractions of life. Thank you for sharing your heart!
ReplyDeleteeven though i'm not a momma, you inspire me with your authenticity and words. thanks, friend. :)
ReplyDeleteIt all comes back to grace. that's what i love about our church so much. every sunday ends with grace. it's something i strive to give (and even receive) on a constant basis. who are we to withhold that grace from another, that has been so freely and graciously been poured out over us? it's something i have to work on every day, every moment. i pray that not only easton sees His grace in me, but Lance (my husband) does as well. because i want so bad for easton to be a kind, gently, grace giving boy/man who reflects Jesus. That is our main influence, as mothers. Love your heart Moriah! You're a great momma!
ReplyDeleteI love this reminder. I think it's easy (as bloggers, artists, whatever) to get caught up in the big ways we want to influence our audience and the online community. I think that's uber important, if that's what God has called us to do. But more importantly, I know for a fact that He has called me to influence those around me daily. How can I be a picture of Jesus to my blog readers if I'm completely missing the mark with Chris, with Silas, with those I interact with in person?
ReplyDeleteI love your heart and I love this post. Your kiddos are so dang cute and holy moly are they getting big!!
Amen! Such powerful truth you've written here and I think it will encourage ALL mothers who read it. Our children are the legacy we leave! Maybe someone will buy our products or read our words but after we leave this earth, they will be the ones living on - carry the baton of faith we pass to them now. Wow. Thanks for sharing this girl.
ReplyDeleteLove this sister, and those pics of your adorable babies!!
ReplyDeleteI love the honesty, bringing it home to what matters, and how important to keep Him at the center of all things! Love your little ones too cute!
