Welcome to another edition of my new blog series: Pursuing Her Passion. I've had this topic on my heart for a long time and I knew that I wasn't alone. There are so many creative and talented women out there chasing their dreams, pursuing their calling, and taking risks in order to fulfill God's plan for their life. There are also many creative and talented women who haven't quite found their passion just yet, or may be feeling held back from being able to pursue their dream. This series is meant to inspire women who are currently looking for that passion in their life if they haven't found it. And if they have, then this series should be an encouragement to get out there and start pursuing it head on!
I love sharing bloggers that I know in real life! This girl and I have such a funny connection. I knew her husband pretty well in college and was in the same group of friends. I never met Lindsey until after college when they were already married and found out that she was very close friends with my cousin/best friend. When I first heard of her, I was like, "No way! I totally know her husband! We gotta hang out!" Lindsey recently started an awesome fashion/faith blog and it's been such a joy to read. I've had so much fun reading her encouraging posts and watching her grow as a blogger. There are so many awesome qualities about Lindsey and her heart for God that I knew had to be shared with my readers today. Get to know this sweetheart, and be sure to hop over to her lovely blog, Ruby Girl:
"Moriah is one of the awesomest people I know. I'm a grammar nut, which has fueled my "abominable sort of conceited independence" (as my darling Elizabeth Bennett, of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice is not-so-affectionately called by a couple of hoity-toity chicks) to make a few allowances like "funnest" and "awesomest". But seriously. Cool family. They just have so much fun with each other, as is ever so apparent in her & her hubby's hilarious tweets.
Happy to be here with you all today! I'm Lindsey and I run a little fashion blog out of Minneapolis. A few things you really must know about me. I believe the show Funniest Home Videos to be hysterical. My hubby has a deviated septum and therefore can never tell if I have bad breath. I most often put my make-up on in the car. I take pleasure in busting out street slang as often as possible (my newest accrued addition to the vocab: S/O... it means "shout-out").
Now onto the meat of the coolest blog series I've ever heard of.
Ever since I was a little girl, I lit up whenever there were people around. My mom still loves to tell the story of my soccer skills in 3rd grade. While the other kids were chasing the ball, I ran just a few feet behind, smiling and waving to everyone on the bleachers. In college, people asked what my hobbies were and I would say... coffee dates with friends! So what I'm saying here is... peeps are my passion. The question was, how to use this for God's glory. Because that, my dear friends, is what this little life of mine is all about.
I took my cue from God. Must say, there's a pretty good bet for cue-following. It blows my mind how God picked David, the youngest and least likely to succeed in a family of promising siblings, to be the King of Israel. And He involved Samuel to help guide David along the way. My heart is to be a Samuel, and see women go from the sheep pastures to the throne. Nothing against sheep pastures. I see beautiful things that resemble my Father & King in the lovely ladies that He's been faithful to bring into my life. And it's been so great to be able to see some of those things come to light, grow, and flourish.
This people passion is definitely reflected in my "9 to 5". I'm blessed to spend most of my time as a Counselor for kids and families. My goal is to bring hope, help people realize their strengths and potential, and facilitate positive relationships among families.
Ruby Girl Blog seems to have been a bit of a spill-over from this itch. It's of course my much-needed fashion outlet yet also serves as another way to connect with all sorts of amazing women who I may not have the chance to meet otherwise. Oh I am a very happy girl if I can make at least one person smile in a day. My prayer for the blog and life in general is reflected in Psalm 4:6, "Let the light of your face shine on us". That through His gracious strength, I can reflect His heart. That as people get to know me, they start to forget about me and start to get curious about this God I adore." - Lindsey
