Pursuing Her Passion:: Cole Franke

Welcome to another edition of my new blog series: Pursuing Her Passion. I've had this topic on my heart for a long time and I knew that I wasn't alone. There are so many creative and talented women out there chasing their dreams, pursuing their calling, and taking risks in order to fulfill God's plan for their life.  There are also many creative and talented women who haven't quite found their passion just yet, or may be feeling held back from being able to pursue their dream. This series is meant to inspire women who are currently looking for that passion in their life if they haven't found it. And if they have, then this series should be an encouragement to get out there and start pursuing it head on!

Next up is the lovely Cole of Handmade Colectibles. If you don't already know of this awesome handmade shop, then you have been hiding under a rock. This talented mama creates the most beautiful felt flower bouquets I've ever seen! I had the honor of meeting Cole back in April when I attended the Creative Estates Conference in Arizona. A bunch of us met up with some local AZ bloggers and hit up an awesome Mexican restaurant for the evening, and that's where I got to hear a little part of Cole's awesome story. After reading her blog and being inspired by her words, I knew Cole would have something really special to share with you ladies. Here's her story:

"Hi I'm Cole, wife + mama of 2, almost 3 kids + blogger + youth minister + pretty flower maker + just a girl unashamedly in love with Jesus.

I was so excited when Moriah asked me to share with you about my journey of pursuing my passion. To begin this part of my story we have to jump back a few years. I was 24, had just given birth to my second son, bought our very first home, and I had just become a stay at home mom. I had everything I had always dreamed of and yet my soul hungered for something more.

One morning in December I sat at my kitchen table and surrendered my life to Jesus. I knew that nothing in this world was going to make me whole except for Him. Ever since that day, He has taken me on such a wonderful adventure, unveiling my heart's desires that I didn't even know I had. Unlocking my soul's passion began with running to the One who created it. As my relationship with Him deepened, that's when my dreams started taking off.

Shortly after my morning at the kitchen table, I began writing my modern day diary (blog). I wanted to capture my life lessons and the ways my life was changing. Through blogging I was introduced to so many inspiring women running businesses from home and I knew I wanted to be a part of that handmade world. Over the next year, God gave me the idea for my business and after months of practicing techniques, learning my style, going through a lot of trial and error, I opened up Handmade Colectibles in September of 2010.

Running a handmade business has been a learning process but at the same time a huge blessing for our family. I'm still amazed at all the opportunities that have come from this venture. I've had the chance to be featured in books + magazines, been able to create unique pieces for people's homes and bride’s big days and know that they will be something that they can treasure for years. I've been able to help friends raise money for charities, adoptions, marathons, and probably the best part of all is that I'm able to do something I love all while not having to miss one minute with my kids.

I feel my authentic gift and passion is to love, bless, encourage, pray, and grow with the people that God's placed in my life. Whether I'm chasing two small boys, being a wife, ministering to teenagers, praying for a friend, growing a baby, making flowers, my passion is to be doing it all for Jesus. I was created for Him, He has made me with unique talents and I feel most joyful when I'm using those gifts to bring Him glory.

Moriah asked if I'd give a little advice for women trying to find their passion and I have to say Jessi from Naptime Diaries said it perfectly: start with Him.
His plan is always way better than what we could dream up on our own anyway.

Lamentations 3:25
The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him,
to the one who seeks him." - Cole
